GloballySusDCymru

The latest edition of GloballySusDCymru - Sustain Wales' E-Zine newsletter has photos and a feature on Ammanford as the First Fairtrade town in Wales.
The article states that -
The privilege of being the first town in Wales to attain such recognition was given to a small town in south Wales called Ammanford, in July 2002. This was all instigated by Phil Broadhurst, a worker in the local Oxfam shop.
At the time of writing, there are 24 Fair Trade towns and 11 Fair Trade counties in Wales, plus many churches, universities, colleges and workplaces. There are also 450 schools registered on the Fair Trade School Scheme. The numbers are rising all the time.

Mae E-Gylchgrawn diweddaraf Cynnal Cymru yn cynnwys lluniau ac erthygl am Rhydaman fel yr dref Masnach Deg cyntaf yng Nghymru.
Yn yr erthygl dywedir -
Cyflwynwyd y fraint o fod y dref gyntaf yng Nghymru i ennill cydnabyddiaeth o’r fath i dref fach Rhydaman yn ne Cymru ym mis Gorffennaf 2002. Y dyn a sbardunodd hyn oedd Phil Broadhurst, gweithiwr yn y siop Oxfam leol.
Wrth i hwn gael ei ysgrifennu, mae 24 o drefi Masnach Deg ac 11 o siroedd Masnach Deg yng Nghymru, ynghyd รข llawer o eglwysi, prifysgolion, colegau a gweithleoedd. Hefyd mae 450 o ysgolion wedi cofrestru ar y Cynllun Ysgol Masnach Deg. Mae’r niferoedd yn codi drwy’r amser.

GIANT FAIRTRADE BANANA SPLIT - Y BANANA SPLIT MWYAF

On Friday 6th March supporters of Fairtrade came to Ammanford's Arcade to take part in a giant banana split.
The main organisers were members of Ammanford's Evangelical Church with the support of Ammanford's Chapels and Churches Youth Groups.
.
This was part of a world record attempt to eat as many Fairtrade bananas in 24 hours.
First of all we had to build the banana split - cut up the bananas, add the ice cream, then the squirty cream and finally the strawberry and chocolate sauce. Then of course we had to eat it. We had a superb turn out, as seen in the photo.
.
The event was a massive success and thanks again to everyone involved in fairtrade fortnight in Ammanford - definately the biggest and best ever, in terms of cross-community involvement, media attention, and big fun events!

Nos Wener 6ed Mawrth daeth cefnogwyr Masnach Deg i Rhydaman i fwyta Banana Split enfawr.
Y prif drefnwyr oedd aelodau Eglwys Efengylaidd Rhydaman gyda chefnogaeth Clybiau Ieuenctid Cristnogol y dref.

Rhan o ymgais i greu record byd o ran bwyta bananas Masnach Deg oedd hon.
Yn gyntaf roedd yn rhaid adeiladu'r banana split drwy dorri'r bananas, ychwanegu'r hufen ia, yna'r hufen ac yn olaf y saws mefus a siocled.Y dasg wedyn oedd bwyta'r cyfan.

Roedd y cefnogaeth yn wych fel mae'r llun yn ei ddangos. Roedd y digwyddiad yn lwyddiatn ysgubol a diolch i bawb sydd wedi bod yn rhan o pythefnos Masnach Deg yn Rhydaman. Yn bendant dyma'r un mwyaf a'r gorau o ran cydweithio cymunedol, sylw yn y wasg a'r cyfryngau a digwyddadau mawr hwyliog.
