BANANA RELAY - CYFNEWID BANANA

Ammanford fairtrade traders and school children came together last week to take part in a Banana Relay. Fairtrade banana farmer Bella Joachim from Dominica was there to support everyone.

Runners used fairtrade bananas as batons for the relay. The grand final featured runners from Amman Valley school, the Co-op, 2Activate (in banana and gorilla outfits), OXFAM, Fairtrade Wales and S4C.
Following the race Bella Joachim met with year 11 geography students from Amman Valley school to offer first hand information on the benefits of Fairtrade.

Phil Broadhurst Ammanford's Fairtrade Group member said
"This is a superb way of bringing together different sectionsof the town to help raise awareness of the beenfits of fairtrade and help Ammanford build on its status as the First Fairtrade town in Wales".

Daeth cefnogwyr Masnach Deg a plant ysgol Rhydaman at ei gilydd wythnos diwethaf i gymryd rhan mewn ras gyfenwid banana. Roedd ffermwraig bananas Bella Joachim o Dominica yno i gefnogi pawb.
Roedd y rhedwyr yn defnyddio banana fel baton ar gyfer y ras gyfenwid. Yn y ffeinal roedd rhedwyr o Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, y Co-op, 2Activate (mewn gwisgoedd gorilla a banana, OXFAM, Masnach Deg Cymru ac S4C.

Yn dilyn y ras aeth bella Joachim i gyfarfod a disgyblion blwyddyn 11 Ysgol Dyffryn Aman i drafod manteision Masnach Deg.

Dywedodd Phil Broadhurst, aelod o grwp Masnach Deg Rhydaman
"Mae hyn yn ffordd arbennig o ddod a gwahanol adrannau o'r dref at eu gilydd i godi ymwybyddaieth o fanteision Masnach Deg a helpu Rhydaman adeiladu ar ei statws fel y dref Fasnach Deg gyntaf yng Nghymru".
