Starting things for Fairtrade Fortnight 2011

Happy New Year... which means it's time to start thinking about Fairtrade Fortnight again!

This year's Fairtrade Fortnight will be Monday 28th February - Sunday 13th March... which includes Comic Relief's Red Nose Day on Friday 18th March.
Could anyone who is planning any events, or who would like help planning any events, please let me know as soon as possible.
If you would like us to publicise your events as part of our Fairtrade Fortnight programme of events, please let us know. riversidepicnic@yahoo.co.uk

Any schools or other organisations who are planning to do things, but not open to the public : Please also let me know what you are doing so I can include it in our next renewal of Fairtrade Town status. (This applies at others times of the year too).
We hope to have our now annual famous Big Banana Split in the arcade again. And we will have the "Small Revolutions" film available for showing. (Features the Amman Valley School Fun Day event and follows the riders from i-Smooth to the Millennium Centre).
Please get in touch if you would like to show it. (It is about 10 minutes long.)

changes to the Fairtrade Town campaign criteria

The Fairtrade Foundation would like campaigners' opinions on how they should set the goal in the Fairtrade Town criteria which refers to fairtrade outlets. The criteria for Ammanford used to be for a shop to sell two fairtrade items, but now that kit kat and dairy milk are fairtrade that seems a bit too easy for most shops to meet and not very meaningful as several outlets will be selling those without even thinking about fairtrade. Clearly it's good that Fairtrade is getting mainstream, but our goals and targets need to change to keep the momentum going. So, below is a survey which we would like you to fill in. (It is really quick and easy!)

Newid i Amcan dau yn ymgyrch Trefi Masnach Deg

Mae’r Sefydliad Masnach Deg yn holi barn cefnogwyr ar sut y dylet osod y meini prawf ar gyfer Trefi Masnach Deg o ran canolfannau Masnach Deg. Y maen prawf presennol yw bod siop yn gwerthu dau eitem masnach deg, ond bellach oherwydd bod kit-kat a dairy milk yn fasnach deg mae hyn llawer yn rhy hawdd ac ddim yn golygu llawer. Yn wir gall nifer o siopau fod yn gwerthu’r nwyddau heb feddwl am Fasnach Deg. Wrth gwrs mae’n beth da bod nwyddau masnach deg yn dod yn rhywbeth pob dydd, ond mae angen newid ein targedau i gadw’r momentwm. Felly dyma holidaur yr hoffwn i chi ei lenwi i gasglu eich barn. Mae’n gyflym a hawdd i’w lenwi – ewch i
