THE FAIRTRADE WAY

Ammanford Fairtrade Group member Phil Broadhurst recently joined members of Garstang Fairtrade Group as they pioneered a long distance walk from garstang, the first Fairtrade Town in the world, up through the Fairtrade Towns of Lancashire and the Lake District to Keswick.
The walkers hope The Fairtrade Way will help to promote Fairtrade products which guarantee third world producers a fair price and good working conditions.

They also hope it will encourage more Ramblers to fill their flasks with Fairtrade tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Phil said " The Ramblers Association has a membership of 135,000. Imagine the impact on Fairtrade sales if just half of those filled their flasks with Fairtrade tea, cofffee or hot chocolate while on their regular walks."

Phil added "Coming from the first Fairtrade town in Wales, it was nice to meet up with the people who got the Fairtrade Towns movement going. We made a lot of good links and are now looking to develop an extension of the Fairtrade Way, brininging it into Wales. Hopefully we'll have the Garstang Group and lots of other Fairtrade Ramblers walking through Ammanford soon."

FAIRTRADE BEST MEDIA CAMPAIGN

Phil Broadhurst, George Alagiah, Andrea Wilkinson of Shared Interest.
Front : Esta Broadhurst, May Broadhurst, Cody Broadhurst, Rosa Broadhurst and Harriet Lamb, Executive Director of the Fairtrade Foundation.

An Ammanford family were in London on Saturday (10th October) to collect an award on behalf of the town's Fairtrade Group.
The group won the award for the Best Media Campaign in the UK during Fairtrade Fortnight 2009.
Group member Phil Broadhurst and his daughters, May, Rosa, Cody and Esta, were invited up to the Fairtrade Foundation's conference in London to collect the award which included a £500 cheque donated by the Shared Interest Foundation which will be used by the Ammanford Group for future campaigns work promoting Fairtrade in the area.
Amman Valley School Year 7 pupil Rosa Broadhurst was presented with the award by BBC news presenter and Fairtrade supporter George Alagiah.
Her father, Phil Broadhurst, said : "The events in Ammanford during this year's Fairtrade Fortnight, particularly the Fairtrade banana split in The Arcade and the schools' Fairtrade banana relay races, were such a success because of the participation of so many young people from the area, so it seemed fitting that it was a young person who collected the award."
The Conference also saw the announcement by International Development MInister Douglas Alexander of an extra £12million of government funding to support the Fairtrade Foundation's work in helping farmers and producers around the world work their way out of poverty. Phil Broadhurst commented : "It was nice to be there, along with Fairtrade campaigners from around the UK, when that announcement was made as it made us realise that our grass roots actions have actually influenced government policy. The recent announcement by Cadburys that all their Dairy MIlk chocolate is now Fairtrade also shows the mainstream impact which campaigns like those in Ammanford have made. We do feel like we are making a difference, but there is still a long way to go, and people need to keep thinking about the working and living conditions of the farmers and workers around the world who produce what we consume."

AMMANFORD FAIRTRADE GROUP CELEBRATE

Ammanford Fairtrade Group are celebrating after winning a UK wide award for Best Media Campaign For Fairtrade Fortnight 2009.

Veronica Pasteur of the Fairtrade Foundation said : "The judges were impressed by the creative events the group organized which ensured excellent media coverage – not just in print, but also TV. They engaged a wide range of people in the events and involving the Mayor, local MP and local AM, as well as churches, schools and youth groups was great. Their range of events proved an excellent way to make interesting local news stories that kept the press interested and ensured their message reached a huge number of people.
"It is these activities that helped to make Fairtrade Fortnight 2009 the biggest and best ever, and as we prepare for 2010 we hope that their achievements will inspire others around the country to take action for Fairtrade."

Local campaign co-ordinator Phil Broadhurst said "We're delighted with the award and the recognition it gives to the way so many people in the community came together to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight this year."

The campaign was based around two main events; a fairtrade banana relay race at Amman Valley School, which also featured all the town's primary schools, and a massive fairtrade banana split in the arcade organised by local churches and youth groups. The fortnight also included promotions in shops, fairtrade coffee mornings, school assemblies and fairtrade dinners, and a visit to the town from a fairtrade banana farmer from the Caribbean.

The award was sponsored by ethical investors Shared Interest who will be presenting the Ammanford Fairtrade Group with a £500 grant to support further campaigning work.

Ammanford became the first Fairtrade Town in Wales in 2002. There are now 440 Fairtrade Towns in the UK, helping to promote the message of Fairtrade, campaigning for a fair deal for farmers and other workers in the developing world.

There are over 4500 products with the fairtrade mark, varying from the traditional tea, coffee and chocolate to rum, cotton wool and footballs and it is estimated that 7 out of 10 households now purchase fairtrade products.

Ammanford's Co-Op store, which had a team in the Fairtrade Banana Relay Race, is currently celebrating the Fairtrade Town Group's success with 20% off all fairtrade products (offer runs until September 29th).

2. Over 4,500 products have been licensed to carry the FAIRTRADE Mark including coffee, tea, herbal teas, chocolate, cocoa, sugar, bananas, grapes, pineapples, mangoes, avocados, apples, pears, plums, grapefruit, lemons, oranges, satsumas, clementines, mandarins, lychees, coconuts, dried fruit, juices, smoothies, biscuits, cakes & snacks, honey, jams & preserves, chutney & sauces, rice, quinoa, herbs & spices, seeds, nuts & nut oil, wines, beers, rum, confectionary, muesli, cereal bars, yoghurt, ice-cream, flowers, sports balls, sugar body scrub and cotton products including clothing, homeware, cloth toys, cotton wool and olive oil.

He explains : "There are now so many people using and selling fairtrade products in the town that we're finding that we don't know about them all, which is obviously good news, but we do want the application and directory to be as complete as possible, so we're asking people to get in touch with us on 01269 596933 or riversidepicnic@yahoo.co.uk ."

WALES CELEBRATES FAIR TRADE NATION FIRST ANNIVERSARY

Jane Davidson, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability and Housing has celebrated the first anniversary of Wales becoming a Fair Trade Nation.
Wales became the world’s first fair trade nation in June 2008 following a two-year campaign by the organisation Fair Trade Wales. This was funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to increase the awareness of fair trade products across Wales and encourage schools, businesses and other organisations to switch to Fair Trade.
Since becoming a Fair Trade Nation:
* 11 more towns have set up Fair Trade groups, meaning that 70% of Welsh towns are now actively supporting and promoting Fair Trade
* a total of 600 schools in Wales are now registered on the Fairtrade School Scheme (approximately a fifth of all UK schools on the scheme)
* the National Eisteddfod and Hay Literary Festivals agreed to adopt Fair Trade policies
* Arriva Trains Wales have switched to Fairtrade hot drinks on all of their services
* more than 40,000 people across Wales took part in activities to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight 2009 (23 February – 8 March)

Ms Davidson said, “Wales should be proud to be the world’s first Fair Trade Nation. We have made a real difference to the everyday lives of producers, helping them trade their way out of poverty.
“Fair trade has an impact around the world. It guarantees farmers in developing countries a fair price for their products and allows them to plan for the future. It is about empowering people to help themselves and also a way for us all to play our part in Making Poverty History.”
Fair Trade guarantees farmers in developing countries a fair price for their products. Because this price is stable it allows them to plan for their future.
Fair Trade promises:
*A fair price to producers in developing countries – enough to pay a living wage
*No child labour
*Decent working conditions
*Protection of the environment
* Rights for women
*A social premium – which supports community projects such as building schools and health clinics

DATHLU PENBLWYDD CYNTAF CYMRU FEL CENEDL MASNACH DEG

Mae Jane Davidson, y Gweinidog dros yr Amgylchedd, Cynaliadwyedd a Thai, wedi dathlu pen-blwydd cyntaf Cymru fel Cenedl Masnach Deg.
Cymru oedd cenedl masnach deg gyntaf y byd ym mis Mehefin 2008, yn dilyn ymgyrch ddwy flynedd gan Masnach Deg Cymru. Ariannwyd hyn gan Lywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru i gynyddu’r ymwybyddiaeth ledled Cymru o gynnyrch masnach deg ac i annog ysgolion, busnesau a sefydliadau eraill i newid i gynnig cynnyrch masnach deg.
Ers dod yn Genedl Masnach Deg:
* mae 11 yn rhagor o drefi wedi sefydlu grwpiau Masnach Deg, sy’n golygu bod 70% o drefi Cymru bellach yn mynd ati eu hunain i gefnogi a hyrwyddo Masnach Deg
* mae cyfanswm o 600 o ysgolion bellach wedi eu cofrestru gyda’r Cynllun Ysgolion Masnach Deg (tua un o bob pump o holl ysgolion y DU sy’n rhan o’r cynllun)
* mae’r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol a Gŵyl Lenyddol y Gelli wedi cytuno i fabwysiadu polisïau Masnach Deg
* mae Trenau Arriva Cymru wedi newid i gynnig diodydd Masnach Deg ar bob un o’u gwasanaethau
* cymerodd dros 40,000 o bobl ledled Cymru ran mewn gweithgareddau i ddathlu Pythefnos Masnach Deg (23 Chwefror – 8 Mawrth)

Meddai Ms Davidson “Dylai Cymru fod yn falch mai hi oedd Cenedl Masnach Deg gyntaf y byd. Rydyn ni wedi gwneud gwahaniaeth go iawn i fywydau cynhyrchwyr, gan eu helpu nhw i fasnachu eu ffordd allan o dlodi.
“Mae masnach deg yn cael effaith ym mhob cwr o’r byd. Mae’n gwarantu pris teg i ffermwyr mewn gwledydd datblygol am eu cynnyrch ac yn caniatáu iddyn nhw gynllunio at y dyfodol. Mae’n grymuso pobl i’w helpu eu hunain a hefyd mae’n ffordd i bob un ohonom chwarae ein rhan i Roi Terfyn ar Dlodi.”

Mae Masnach Deg yn gwarantu pris teg i ffermwyr mewn gwledydd datblygol am eu cynnyrch. Oherwydd bod y pris hwn yn un cyson, mae’n eu galluogi nhw i gynllunio at y dyfodol.
Mae Masnach Deg yn addo:
*Pris teg i gynhyrchwyr mewn gwledydd datblygol – digon i dalu cyflog y mae modd byw arno
*Dim llafur plant
*Amodau gweithio gweddus
*Diogelu’r amgylchedd
*Hawliau i fenywod
*Premiwm cymdeithasol – sy’n cefnogi prosiectau cymunedol fel adeiladu ysgolion a chlinigau iechyd

BANG THE DRUM FOR FAIR TRADE!

BANG THE DRUM FOR FAIR TRADE!
FAIR TRADE WALES CONFERENCE SATURDAY 6th JUNE 2009
TRINITY COLLEGE, CARMARTHEN
10.30 – 16:00

This year Fair Trade Wales hosts its first conference in West Wales where we will BANG THE DRUM FOR FAIR TRADE! The theme is about shouting about the good work that Fair Trade does with a host of inspiring speakers, workshops and activities.

The day will include:

A special video welcome from Harry Hill (the face of Liberation Fairtrade nuts)
A live satellite link up to a Fairtrade farmer co-operative
A talk from Zaytoun – the Palestinian Fair Trade olive oil project
A special Fair Trade and local lunch
An afternoon ‘World Café’ discussion
A host of workshops on everything from trade justice to community linking between Wales and Africa and a Fair Trade craft workshop including a live demonstration.
A special children’s area (suitable for under 16’s) with workshops and activities – including a Fairtrade football game and craft area for younger ones
.
The World Café explained…

A Café Conversation is a creative process for leading collaborative dialogue, sharing knowledge and creating possibilities for action in groups of all sizes. The process is simple, yet often yields surprising results. In the World Café gathering, you join several other people at a Café-style table or in a small conversation cluster exploring a question or issue that really matters to your life, work or community. Others are seated at nearby tables or in conversation clusters exploring similar questions at the same time. People are noting down or sketching out key ideas on the Café's paper tablecloths.

From these intimate conversations, members carry key ideas and insights into new small groups. This cross-pollination of perspectives is one of the hallmarks of the World Café. As people and ideas connect together in progressive rounds of conversation, collective knowledge grows and evolves.

Bookings

The cost for the conference is £5 for adults and free for children (under 18’s) including lunch and refreshments. This year tickets must be booked in advance and we recommend early bookings to guarantee your workshop place. To book, please return the booking form with your cheque for £5 per delegate made out to ‘The Wales Fair Trade Forum’ with your name and address printed on the back of the cheque. Please fill out the special children’s booking form for under 16’s. One form is required per person.

WEBSITE LAUNCH - LANSIAD Y WEFAN

The Global Day event held at the Cwmaman Youth Centre on 9th May to celebrate World Fair Trade Day was an ideal setting for us to launch our website.

There was so much interest locally during fairtrade fortnight this year, with the schools' fairtrade banana relay race, the record breaking fairtrade banana split in the arcade, and the visit to the town of fairtrade banana farmer Bella Joachim, that we wanted to let everyone keep up to date with other campaigns and events we're involved with throughout the year.

So if you want to know what's happening locally, and globally with fairtrade then just check the ammanford fairtrade group's website for the latest up to date information.

Phil Broadhurst, Fairtrade group member commented : "Such a lovely international event provides a perfect day for us to officially launch our website, ww.ammanfordfairtrade.blogspot.com ."

Roedd y digwyddiad Dydd Byd Eang a gafodd ei gynnal yng Nghanolfan Adnoddau Ieuenctid Cwmaman ar Fai 9ed i ddathlu Diwrnod Masnach Deg y Byd yn gyfle gwych i ni lansio ein gwefan.

Roedd cymaint o ddiddordeb yn lleol yn ystod pythefnos Masnach Deg eleni, gyda ras gyfenwid bananas masnach deg, y banana split enfawr yn yr Arcade, ac ymweliad ffermwraig banana Masnach Deg, Bella Joachim a’r dref, fel roedden ni eisiau gadael i bawb wybod beth sy’n digwydd gyda ein ymgyrchoedd a digwyddiadau eraill yn ystod y flwyddyn.

Felly os ydych eisiau gweld beth sy’n digwydd yn lleol ac yn Genedlaethol a derbyn newyddion am Fasnach Deg ar draws y byd yna ewch i'r wefan am y newyddion diweddaraf.

Dywedodd Phil Broadhurst, aelod o'r grwp Masnach Deg “Mae gweithgaredd rhyngwladol hyfryd fel hwn yn ddiwrnod perffaith i ni lansio ein gwefan http://www.ammanfordfairtrade.blogspot.com/

AMMANFORD FAIRTRADE GROUP SUPPORT CARMARTHENSHIRE- GRWP MASNACH DEG RHYDAMAN YN CEFNOGI SIR GAERFYRDDIN

Below is a piece which Ammanford Fairtrade Group were asked to write to go with Carmarthenshire's current application for Fairtrade County status, and the end of it outlines things we will be working around over the next few months... although obviously anything else people want to do would be great too!
Ammanford Fairtrade Group is stronger now than at any time in its seven year history.
Fairtrade Fortnight 2009 was our best yet in terms of widespread community involvement, media coverage... and fun!
We had two main events; a fairtrade relay race at Amman Valley School with teams from all of Ammanford's schools, and from local fairtrade supporting shops, cafes and organisations. This event was covered by S4C's daily magazine programme Wedi Tri, whose presenter ran in the race as well as interviewing Bella Joachim and others. We also had photo stories in both the local papers.
The other main event was a 24m long fairtrade banana split in the town's arcade. This was organised and led by fairtrade church and chapel youth groups and sponsored by local businesses. The MP, AM and Mayor all attended as well as around 200 people. The event was the lead photo story on the front pages of both local newspapers and the local community Welsh language magazine, Gloman. ITV Wales had planned to do a live-broadcast weather forecast from the event, but had to pull out at the last minute due to staffing issues. We were however able to immediately put them in touch with organisers of a fairtrade school event in Cardiff which they did attend and featured on their main news programme.
The relay event was timed to coincide with the visit to Carmarthenshire of Bella Joachim, who as well as attending the relay event and talking to a Year 11 Geography class who were studying the banana trade, also visited the local Co-Op, the Organic Pantry, who deliver organic and fairtrade boxes around South Wales, and Tiddlywinks fairtrade playgroup.
The town's fairtrade businesses were also featured on S4C's Ffermio programme.
All the town's primary schools had fairtrade assemblies in the fortnight and two special fairtrade meals.
Other regular and one-off fairtrade coffee mornings were also held, and, following on from their involvement in the banana split, Clwb Hwyl Hwyr's webmaster has set up a bilingual website for Ammanford Fairtrade Group.
Building on from the success of Fairtrade fortnight, and the Fairtrade Wales Flag events in December (in local schools, churches, chapels and the Town Council's OAP's Christmas Party), the group is now looking to gain more publicity through an official launch of the website on World Fairtrade Day on May 9th, and then with our involvement with the Wales Fairtrade Conference in June, and with the Ammanford Carnival in July.
The "We helped make Wales a Fairtrade Country" banner will also be displayed at various venues in the town throughout the year.

Dyma gopi o’r llythyr wnaethon no fel Grŵp Masnach Deg Rhydaman ei ysgrifennu i gefnogi cais Sir Gaerfyrddin am Statws Masnach Deg. Mae’r darn ar y diwedd yn amlinellu beth fyddwn ni yn gweithio o’u hamgylch yn ystod y misoedd nesaf. Er wrth gwrs croesewir syniadau gan bobl am unrhwy beth arall hefyd.

Mae Grŵp Masnach Deg Rhydaman yn gryfach nawr nag unrhyw amser arall yn ei saith mlynedd o fodolaeth. Pythefnos Masnach Deg 2009 oedd y gorau eto o ran gweithgareddau cymdeithasol, sylw yn y wasg… a hwyl!
Cawsom ddau brif weithgaredd; y ras gyfenwid yn Ysgol Dyffryn Aman gyda timau o pob ysgol yn Rhydaman, siopau sy’n cefnogi Masnach Deg , caffis a sefydliadau. Cafodd y digwyddiad sylw ar rhaglen S4C Wedi Tri. Wnaeth y gohebydd redeg y ras a chyfweld Bella Joachim ac eraill. Hefyd roedd stori a lluniau yn y ddau bapur lleol.
Y diwgyddiad arall oedd y banan split 24 metr yn arcade y dref. Cafodd hwn ei drefnu a’i arwain gan grwpiau ieuenctid capeli ac eglwysi’r dref a’i noddi gan fusnesau lleol. Roedd yr Aelod Seneddol, Aelod Cynulliad a Maer y dref yn bresennol ynghyd a 200 o bobl. Roedd y stori ar dudalennau blaen y ddau bapur newydd lleol ac ar dudalen flaen Glo Man, Papur Bro Dyffryn Aman. Roedd ITV Cymru i fod i ddod a rhoi adroddiad a rhagolwg tywydd ar y noson, ond roedd yn rhaid iddynt dynnu allan ar y funud olaf. Felly fe wnaethon ni eu rhoi mewn cyswllt a digwyddiad masnach deg mewn ysgol yng Nghaerdydd. Cafodd hwn ei gynnwys ar eu heitem newyddion y noson honno.
Roedd amseriad y ras gyfnewid wedi ei drefnu i gydfynd ac ymweliad Bella Joachim a Sir Gaerfyrddin. Aeth Bella i’r ras a hefyd rhoddodd gyflwyniad i ddisgyblion Daearyddiaeth blwyddyn 11, ymweld a’r Co-op lleol, y Pantri Organig, sydd yn dosbarthu bocsus organig ar draws De orllewin Cymru a mynd i Tiddliwinks sef grŵp chwarae masnach deg.
Roedd busnesau masnach deg y dref hefyd ar rhaglen Ffermio ar S4C.
Yn ystod pythefnos masnach deg cynhaliodd pob ysgol wasanaeth boreol masnach deg a dau bryd o fwyd masnach deg arbennig.
Hefyd cynhaliwyd boreuau coffi. Yn dilyn y banana split fe wnaeth rheolwr gwefan Clwb Hwyl hwyr greu gwefan dwyieithog ar gyfer Grŵp Masnach Deg Rhydaman.
Gan adeiladu ar lwyddiant pythefnos masnach deg, a’r digwyddiadau Baner Masnach Deg yn Rhagfyr (mewn ysgolion lleol, capeli, eglwysi a Parti Henoed Cyngor y Dref) mae’r grŵp yn edrych nawr ar sut i gael mwy o gyhoeddusrwydd drwy lansio’r wefan yn swyddogol ar Ddydd Masnach Deg Byd eang ar 9 Mai, yna Chynhadledd Masnach Deg Cymru ym Mehefin, a Carnifal Rhydaman yng Ngorffennaf.
Bydd y faner “Rydm wedi helpu gwneud Cymru yn wlad Masnach Deg” yn cael ei harddangos mewn gwahanol lefydd yn y dref ar hyd y flwyddyn.

GloballySusDCymru

The latest edition of GloballySusDCymru - Sustain Wales' E-Zine newsletter has photos and a feature on Ammanford as the First Fairtrade town in Wales.
The article states that -
The privilege of being the first town in Wales to attain such recognition was given to a small town in south Wales called Ammanford, in July 2002. This was all instigated by Phil Broadhurst, a worker in the local Oxfam shop.
At the time of writing, there are 24 Fair Trade towns and 11 Fair Trade counties in Wales, plus many churches, universities, colleges and workplaces. There are also 450 schools registered on the Fair Trade School Scheme. The numbers are rising all the time.

Mae E-Gylchgrawn diweddaraf Cynnal Cymru yn cynnwys lluniau ac erthygl am Rhydaman fel yr dref Masnach Deg cyntaf yng Nghymru.
Yn yr erthygl dywedir -
Cyflwynwyd y fraint o fod y dref gyntaf yng Nghymru i ennill cydnabyddiaeth o’r fath i dref fach Rhydaman yn ne Cymru ym mis Gorffennaf 2002. Y dyn a sbardunodd hyn oedd Phil Broadhurst, gweithiwr yn y siop Oxfam leol.
Wrth i hwn gael ei ysgrifennu, mae 24 o drefi Masnach Deg ac 11 o siroedd Masnach Deg yng Nghymru, ynghyd â llawer o eglwysi, prifysgolion, colegau a gweithleoedd. Hefyd mae 450 o ysgolion wedi cofrestru ar y Cynllun Ysgol Masnach Deg. Mae’r niferoedd yn codi drwy’r amser.

GIANT FAIRTRADE BANANA SPLIT - Y BANANA SPLIT MWYAF

On Friday 6th March supporters of Fairtrade came to Ammanford's Arcade to take part in a giant banana split.
The main organisers were members of Ammanford's Evangelical Church with the support of Ammanford's Chapels and Churches Youth Groups.
.
This was part of a world record attempt to eat as many Fairtrade bananas in 24 hours.
First of all we had to build the banana split - cut up the bananas, add the ice cream, then the squirty cream and finally the strawberry and chocolate sauce. Then of course we had to eat it. We had a superb turn out, as seen in the photo.
.
The event was a massive success and thanks again to everyone involved in fairtrade fortnight in Ammanford - definately the biggest and best ever, in terms of cross-community involvement, media attention, and big fun events!

Nos Wener 6ed Mawrth daeth cefnogwyr Masnach Deg i Rhydaman i fwyta Banana Split enfawr.
Y prif drefnwyr oedd aelodau Eglwys Efengylaidd Rhydaman gyda chefnogaeth Clybiau Ieuenctid Cristnogol y dref.

Rhan o ymgais i greu record byd o ran bwyta bananas Masnach Deg oedd hon.
Yn gyntaf roedd yn rhaid adeiladu'r banana split drwy dorri'r bananas, ychwanegu'r hufen ia, yna'r hufen ac yn olaf y saws mefus a siocled.Y dasg wedyn oedd bwyta'r cyfan.

Roedd y cefnogaeth yn wych fel mae'r llun yn ei ddangos. Roedd y digwyddiad yn lwyddiatn ysgubol a diolch i bawb sydd wedi bod yn rhan o pythefnos Masnach Deg yn Rhydaman. Yn bendant dyma'r un mwyaf a'r gorau o ran cydweithio cymunedol, sylw yn y wasg a'r cyfryngau a digwyddadau mawr hwyliog.

BANANA RELAY - CYFNEWID BANANA

Ammanford fairtrade traders and school children came together last week to take part in a Banana Relay. Fairtrade banana farmer Bella Joachim from Dominica was there to support everyone.

Runners used fairtrade bananas as batons for the relay. The grand final featured runners from Amman Valley school, the Co-op, 2Activate (in banana and gorilla outfits), OXFAM, Fairtrade Wales and S4C.
Following the race Bella Joachim met with year 11 geography students from Amman Valley school to offer first hand information on the benefits of Fairtrade.

Phil Broadhurst Ammanford's Fairtrade Group member said
"This is a superb way of bringing together different sectionsof the town to help raise awareness of the beenfits of fairtrade and help Ammanford build on its status as the First Fairtrade town in Wales".

Daeth cefnogwyr Masnach Deg a plant ysgol Rhydaman at ei gilydd wythnos diwethaf i gymryd rhan mewn ras gyfenwid banana. Roedd ffermwraig bananas Bella Joachim o Dominica yno i gefnogi pawb.
Roedd y rhedwyr yn defnyddio banana fel baton ar gyfer y ras gyfenwid. Yn y ffeinal roedd rhedwyr o Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, y Co-op, 2Activate (mewn gwisgoedd gorilla a banana, OXFAM, Masnach Deg Cymru ac S4C.

Yn dilyn y ras aeth bella Joachim i gyfarfod a disgyblion blwyddyn 11 Ysgol Dyffryn Aman i drafod manteision Masnach Deg.

Dywedodd Phil Broadhurst, aelod o grwp Masnach Deg Rhydaman
"Mae hyn yn ffordd arbennig o ddod a gwahanol adrannau o'r dref at eu gilydd i godi ymwybyddaieth o fanteision Masnach Deg a helpu Rhydaman adeiladu ar ei statws fel y dref Fasnach Deg gyntaf yng Nghymru".

BEST FAIRTRADE CAFE IN CARMARTHENSHIRE - Y CAFFI MASNACH DEG GORAU YN SIR GAR

No 6 Cafe in Ammanford was voted the best best fairtrade cafe in Carmarthenshire in a fairtrade fortnight internet poll.
It came 7th in the whole of Wales.
Well done everyone.

Mae Caffi Rhif 6 yn Rhydaman wedi cael ei ddewis fel y caffi masnach deg orau yn Sir Gaerfryddin mewn pleidlais ar y rhyngrwyd yn ystod pythefnos Masnach Deg. Daeth yn 7ed drwy Gymru gyfan.
Da iawn pawb.
